PoE 4K IP Camera Coverage for Commercial Buildings
Commercial surveillance is won at the coverage plan, not the camera model. We map cameras against how people and vehicles actually move through the site: the lobby and reception, every exterior door and loading dock, the parking areas and drive approaches, stairwells and elevator lobbies, server and utility rooms, and the retail floor or warehouse aisles. - Size the recorder to the real workload. A wall of 4K cameras at full frame rate fills storage far faster than a handful of entry cameras, so we calculate retention against your actual camera count, resolution, and frame rate rather than a generic box spec.
- Set retention to policy. Some facilities want 30 days, some want 60 or 90 for compliance or insurance reasons, and we size the array to hit that target instead of quietly overwriting early.
- Add off-site backup where it matters. On sites where losing the recorder to theft or fire would be a problem, we layer cloud backup or a second recording location on top of the local NVR so there is an off-site copy of critical cameras.
- Segment by tenant or department. In multi-tenant buildings we keep each tenant's footage logically separated so one occupant can review their own cameras without seeing another's.
Thirty days is the starting point, not the ceiling. We size the recorder to hit your retention target at your resolution, because a marginal drive that fills early is the reason a business finds out too late that the clip is gone.
Every camera run is certified with a cable certifier before it is buried or covered, because a marginal cable that passes at install and fails in the cold is the worst kind of callback on a building that is now depending on those cameras.
Role-Based Access Control: Key Cards, Mobile Credentials, and SCIM
Access control is where a commercial building gets the day-to-day control that residential systems never need: who can open which door, when, and how fast a credential dies when someone leaves. We install role-based access control so a person's job defines their doors, not a shared code taped under a keyboard.
What that layer includes:
- Key cards and fobs for staff and contractors, with each credential mapped to a role rather than issued one-off, so revoking access is one click instead of a hunt
- Mobile credentials on a phone for staff who would rather not carry a card, with the same role logic behind them
- Scheduled access by role and time, so cleaning crews reach the floors they service after hours, delivery staff reach the dock during receiving windows, and executives reach restricted areas any time
- Directory and SCIM integration so credentials provision when HR onboards someone and revoke automatically at offboarding, which closes the gap where a departed employee's badge still opens the back door a week later

Cameras record what happened. Intruder and life-safety detection is what tells someone it is happening now. We integrate motion, glass-break, and door and window contact sensors with the surveillance and access system so an after-hours event triggers an alert within seconds and pulls up the camera covering that zone.
